| About | I love teaching piano through Simply Music! I’ve been teaching this method since 2012, and it’s wonderful sharing the gift of piano in such a natural, fun and exciting way. Playing piano has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I learned initially by copying my mom who played piano, and later learned to read. I’ve performed at senior centers and synagogues, and taught music in school and Sunday School. For several years, I was a music director at summer camps and taught musical theatre through the Improv Playhouse in Libertyville. Having a Music Education degree (piano major) from the University of Illinois, I was trained in classical music and later studied and learned jazz. After teaching traditional piano for awhile, I took a detour and discovered the world of commercial music. I became a lyricist and professional wordsmith, and put my piano teaching skills on the back burner. Upon discovering Simply Music online, I became fascinated and intrigured. The idea of teaching students how to play immediately appealed to me, and I decided to teach part-time. It has been quite an enjoyable, fulfilling experience. I also provide students with performing opportunities twice a year at a senior citizens residence, so we all get the opportunity to offer our talents to an appreciative audience. I teach students of all ages in my Winnetka home and at a church in Glencoe. My schedule allows for a limited number of students during late afternoons and early evenings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
