About

Jill was born and raised in Taiwan, where she started playing piano at the age of six. She was classically trained and performed at weddings, funerals and concerts during her college years. After working in Taiwan for a number of years, Jill moved to the United States and attended San Jose State University, where she earned an MA in Education and a Music Teacher Certification. After graduation, Jill developed “Little Panda Music and Movement,” an early childhood music program that she teaches at local community centers. She designed the Little Panda early childhood music curriculum, composed songs and published four music CDs to be used for this program.

In addition to teaching Little Panda, Jill gave piano lessons to students using the traditional method for seven years. Although Jill developed a great relationship with her piano students, she found that many of them quit piano because they disliked the traditional reading-based piano method.

Jill discovered Simply Music when one of her former Little Panda students wanted to learn piano. This student has a learning disability so traditional piano methods could not be used. After Jill went through the Simply Music teacher training program and became a licensed teacher, she began to teach the student. The results were amazing. After less than ten lessons, the student was able to play many songs and even composed a song! The student’s confidence and love for piano both grew during this period of time. This experience was a confirmation to Jill that Simply Music is a terrific piano teaching method.

Jill loves music, loves Simply Music, and loves to teach. She believes that Simply Music is “the best piano learning method on the planet.” Jill is especially interested in teaching Simply Music to:

  • Children, so that they can develop a love for piano and music that will last a lifetime
  • Special needs children who cannot be taught through traditional methods
  • Adults and seniors who have always wanted to play the piano
